Adam Gilchrist couldn’t have chosen a better stage than this to come good. Playing in a packed spanking new stadium, he stunned the Mumbai Indians with a blitzkrieg century to script a ten-wicket win in just 12.4 overs. Gilchrist scored 109 not out off just 48 balls, getting to his century off only 42 deliveries, overtaking teammate Andrew Symonds’ effort off 48 balls.His 109 not out was his first Twenty20 score above 50, the IPL’s fastest century, and the third-fastest in all Twenty20 matches. Harbhajan Singh temporarily suspended from IPL

The suspension means Harbhajan Singh, who is the stand-in captain for the Mumbai Indians, will not be able to play for the team against Deccan Chargers tomorrow in Mumbai.

There would be an enquiry into it on Monday in Delhi, but Bhajji will not be able to take part in the IPL pending resolution of the issue.

Temperamental off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was on Saturday suspended pending his explanation for slapping his Indian teammate S Sreesanth at the end of an IPL match at Mohali on Friday night and appears headed for a severe punishment which can be a minimum of a ban for five Test matches or 10 one-day internationals.

Upset over the controversy generated by the altercation between cricketers Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a showcause notice to Harbhajan, asking him to respond by Monday. Harbhajan has been asked explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him for allegedly slapping Sreesanth on Friday night.

Mumbai Indian stand-in captain Harbhajan Singh downplayed the controversy regarding him allegedly slapping S Sreesanth to bring the Kings XI Punjab pacer to tears, saying the issue “had been sorted out”.

Yet again the two bad boys are back in the frame. This time it was after the King’s XI Punjab won their tie against the Mumbai Indians. It is learnt that all the players shook hands after the match and Sreesanth did the same thing. He is learnt to have said “Hard Luck mate” to Harbhajan Singh which sparked the spinner and Harbhajan Singh hit Sreesanth right below the eyes.

After the game, Sreesanth was seen in tears. Later Harbhajan Singh visited the team dressing room and apologised for his behaviour. As such, no official complaint has been lodged but it is also learnt that Sreesanth went and complained to his team owners, Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia about this incident. While Harbhajan Singh avoided answering to questions related to this incident, Yuvraj Singh and Tom Moody were really undone and regarded this as an ” Ugly incident”.

It will be interesting to see what actions IPL will take against the off-spinner if an complaint is lodged and if he’s found guilty.

Dhoni is a true asset to the indian team and he has all the basics to lead the Indian team. He is a great keeper and a “solid” middle order batsman. He knows how to handle the pressure and how to bat according the situations. As said, Yuvraj needs to know his responsibilities and support Dhoni, who is backing Yuvraj despite his not-so-good batting form thru out the series. Lets wait and see what fate awaits the “new” Indian team in the years to follow under a new and energetic captain.

Dhoni posses excellent sportsmanship.Its a relief for Indian cricket board as we have been searching a consistent keeper batsmen for decades.I strongly feel that Dhoni has been given extra pressures and loads where he couldn play his natural game with extra power swing a typical Dhoni s game.Yuvaraj has to realise his responsibilities being a vice-captain for Indian team he should share lot of burdens from Indian ODI Captain.Its good to see that Dhoni has changed the Indian cricket in a different way handling young guns.
