Adam Gilchrist couldn’t have chosen a better stage than this to come good. Playing in a packed spanking new stadium, he stunned the Mumbai Indians with a blitzkrieg century to script a ten-wicket win in just 12.4 overs. Gilchrist scored 109 not out off just 48 balls, getting to his century off only 42 deliveries, overtaking teammate Andrew Symonds’ effort off 48 balls.His 109 not out was his first Twenty20 score above 50, the IPL’s fastest century, and the third-fastest in all Twenty20 matches.
